  2. Once an old man by the name of Mike Maher lived in Foilduff, and his knowledge of geography was very poor. He owned a donkey and car by which he got around from place to place, He was very fond of visiting his friends and sometimes remained away from home for a week or a fortnight. One night he paid a visit to his daughter with whom he remained for two weeks and during his absence a bridge was being erected near his own house. It was very late in the night when he was arriving back and to his great surprise he was unable to get across as the road was closed to all traffic. He stood up in his cart and addressing the blocade this is what he said "Well I travelled from here to the Rock of Gibralty and around by the Lakes of Killarney and across the green fields of the Atlantic and such a terrible blocade before a man and his
