    the river which is the boundary between Co.Tipp and Co Limerick it was in flood. He soon saw a stone in the middle of the river and it was about thirteen feet from each side. He jumped on to the rock and from the rock to the other side. When the horsemen saw the river in flood they knew that the horses would not be able to cross so they gave up following him and so he won the race. The distance from Keeper to the river is about seven miles and he did it in about one hour.
    Once a man by the name of William Caplis , formerly of Tourienbrien, parish of Kilcommon, Co. Tipperary succeeded in catching a rabbit by running after him.

  2. Edmond O'Toole, Shanbally, Newport, Co Tipp, was a very swift runner. One day a man from Doon challenged him to run. They ran from Doon and they were followed by a man on horseback and it gave the horse his best to keep up to them. Edmond won the race and had four pints of porter drank before the other man came.
