    had nearly a day's work done before they had any food eaten.
    Buttermilk was the chief drink they had, and cabbage was the chief vegetable they ate, and they considered green vegetables good for the blood, they dressed this vegetable with butter as very often they had not fat.
    On Easter Sunday morning eggs were used and in Lent the people fasted from some special food so it was a treat to have eggs on Easter Sunday morning.
