  1. If the droppings of cattle were undisturbed in a field during Autumn and Winter these droppings dry and harden. The following summer the dried lumps are gathered and burned in the fire like turf. They redden like turf and last fairly long time. When burning, bótháin gives a rather peculiar odour, not objectionable but peculiar to itself.
    In our locality many people gather and burn bótháin.
