    The fox is the most sly and most cunning of all animals. He has been often known to pretend to be dead in order to escape being caught. Once a man living in Kilworth a granduncle of mine named Patrick Murphy who was working on a farm told this story to my Aunt who related it to me.
    In this farm a great number of fowl were kept, the fowl were often missing and were supposed to be taken by a fox. One morning this man was letting out the fowl into a pond in the farm-yard near which there was a wall on this wall he saw the fox perched looking with hungry eyes on the fowl.
    "Well! said the man if you are very hungry come down and take one of them. He had no sooner said the words than
