  1. Gorth Ruadha is situated somewhere near Rathcormac there was a fight between the people in this locality and the soldiers of Fermoy in 1832. It was brought by the refusal of a widow to pay tithes to a proctor named Ryder. The proctor called in the aid of the soldiers - the widow called her neighbours to help her. At the battle eight or ten people were killed. Shortly after this the proctor lost his senses completely.
