    born within three miles of Kanturk. He now resides in Clonmel. He represented Ireland at the Olympic games in Amsterdam and in Los- Agelas. He won the hammer-throwing event in both places which was a great honour for Ireland and especially for his native district.
    The Guiney brothers, who reside at Percival St Kanturk are very strong athletic men. They are famous in song and story for their great feats.
