This child's mother was coming home one-day and instead of going to the ford or bridge to cross the river she tried to come over directly to her house. She was drowned in the attempt. A year elapsed and then the child said.
"Bliain is lá indiu do báitheadh mo mháthair agus do bheád sí an thímcheall ó shoin"
This was the local way of saying "The longest way around is the nearest way home.- Collector
