- Three ships were wrecked about 40 years ago off the Mizen Head. One was the "Memphis" which had a load of meat and cattle and was coming from Australia to England. It was wrecked below the "Three Castle Head. One bullock got out of the ship and came in to the mainland alive. Most of the meat and cattle came in with tide into Dunlough Bay, near Goleen.
Another one of the ships had a cargo of all sorts of fruits and came into Dunbeacon. The third ship had a load of copper. My grandfather got some of the copper.- Bailitheoir
