  1. There was a football match played in this parish about 50 or 60 years ago. The teams that played were Goleen and Schull. On each side there were twenty one men. The best players in each parish were picked out to play the match. It was a match between two parishes. They played three games Schull won one game and Goleen won two games. The score was Goleen three goals and Schull two goals. They were dressed in fancy clothes. The ball was the same kind of ball which is used at present. It was made of leather. Goal posts were used. There were four posts on each end of the field one was to mark the goal and the other the point.
