- There are many old proverbs in my district Crookhaven. The following proverbs are said locally.
God's help is nearer than the door
God never closed one gap but he opened another.
God fits the back for the burden.
God bless the hearers and where it is told.
When a person indicates on his body the spot where another person is injured he says "God bless the mark".
When a light is lit the following is often said " God give us the light and the glory of heaven".
When danger is threatening this is said God be between us and all harm.
If a person performs kindness for another Thank You is not usually said but "God spare your health".
When a person receives food or drink it is said "God increase your store"
Live horse and you'll get grass.
It's a long road that has no turn.
The lazy man's load
