- All the house in the district were thatched roofed about 100 years ago. Sedge (Reed) which grew in marshy places was used for thatch. It is said that the Bed was placed in Kitchen near the fire.

There were usually two tiny windows and in a great many cases there were no windows.A Kind of Screen (made from closely perforated zinc) was used before glass for the windows.Floors were all made of grey clay - but some few houses in the district were Flagged with large FlagsThere are still Flagged floors used by the people of the district.
In one case there is still a grey clé floor used.
