  1. Local Heroes
I have heard many stories, of famous men of our district. Many of these people are still living.
Late Conory, was a famous mower of his time. Many people would not believe what he could do. So on a certain day, he set to mow some meadow in a field, in which there was an Irish acre of ground.
It was a gentleman, who asked the request of the mower. So the gentleman told him the more meadow he would mow, the greater would be the prize.
It was on a fine Summer's day, and the champion took an ordinary sythe [?], at nine o'clock in the morning. After a few hours many spectators came to see his six hours, work. So all were amazed at the rapid progress he had made. On the same evening at nine o 'clock he had his acre of meadow mowed. The gentleman who asked the mower then came and he awarded the champion prize of £2.
