    witch had crossed the hill to the east she spilled out one cup of water Two hundred yards further on she spilled out another and emptied out the rest hundred yards beyond the second one. Why she was doing this the man watching could not understand but anyway he told his neighbours when he went back and they said it was no good she was up to. Next morning when they awoke and looked out a strange sight met their eyes — Dooneen Lake had disappeared and nothing but mud and dead fish remained The few beasts the neighbours had were searching pitifully here and there for water but to no use. More strange news arrived in the Evening when a boy came running in saying that there was a new lake in Shadlough and that it was in the shape of three cups joined together as OOO All went off to see it and there sure enough was a lake and the old witch walking beside it chuckling to herself. The man who had watched her the evening before told them how he had seen her spill out water three times with a cup and this in the place where the lake now was All now knew that by her terrible powers
