  1. The birds that are most common in this district are the robin, wren, crow, sparrow, jackdaw, wagtail, chaffinch, yellowhammer, swallow, cuckoo, corncrake and the starling. Few of these birds migrate. The ones that do so are the swallow, cuckoo & corncrake.
Most of these birds build their nests in hedges or banks or in the walls of old houses. There are signs too by which we know when the weather is about to change. When the swallow is flying low it is a sign of rain and when he is flying high it is a sign of good weather.
When the blackbird is hopping in the street it is a sign of snow.It is said that one day a farmer was working in the field. He left his coat hanging on the gate; a robin came and built its nest in the pocket and he left the coat there till the young were hatched.
