    If a woman is going into a house first thing on New years day it is a custom for her to carry something in her hand to bring good luck. Some people think that it is not lucky for a red haired woman to be the first person to go into their house on New years day.
    There are men who come into the houses about Christmas time and they are called rhymers. They dance sometimes. They get coppers form the people. On Hallow Eve night some boys and girls dress up an go round to houses dancing and singing. they get apples and nuts.
