  1. There is a place called Morris's holm in the townland of Meenliskyban along the river Mourne where Mass was said in the Penal Days. There was a rock which was used for an altar and it is still there. There was another hidden place in Curraghamone where the priest said Mass. The rock is there yet. It belonged to James Leeper and it is still called the Altar Hill. The English soldiers were in pursuit of priests. There was £5 offered for a priest's head in those days. The priests were afraid to say Mass in the houses.
