  1. Wexford town was called by Ptolemy, Menapia, but in the Annals of the Four Masters the place-name is Loch Garman, so called from "Garman the Rough," who was drowned there.
    It was called by the Danes *Weisfiord.
    It is a wealthy, old-fashioned town, running for over a mile parallel with the shore it's narrow Main Street, it's old-world Bull Ring, recalling the savage games introduced by the Anglo-Normans, it's quaint houses, fine old castles and ruins, and splendid new churches, suggesting at every step some memory of the eventful history of the place from the early Fair of
