    For a person who has a weak heart an herb called called Dandelion is plucked. Then it is boiled and the person with heart failure drinks the water and it is said to make their heart strong. The water must be boiled very clean for fear of poisoning the person.
    To pick the tops off nine gooseberry bushes and to throw one away and rub the other eight to a sty will cure it, but unless you make the sign of the cross with the last top the cure is no use, and it is no good trying any more.
    When rash comes on a person’s face an herb called Finnamhóin is boilt and the juice is rubbed to the rash and if it is not gone the third day it will stay twice that length Finnamhóin is a sort of brown moss which is got in bogs mixed with leaves and earth.
