police and a machine for the purpose of knocking the house. When these came into a village all the people around gathered to see could they do anything to save the house, but they were kept away by the police and could do nothing to help.
In my vicinity a case took place in a house where there was an old woman sick. The man asked to be given a few hours to take away the sick woman and to get the furniture out. But instead they bailiffs took the bed and sick woman and threw them out on the street. Then they threw all the furniture out and they went up on the house and knocked it so that the people could not go in again. The old woman seeing that died in the street.
It is believed that Cromwell never came in to this place, although his war cry was "To hell or to Connaught".
