Others say that the word "Belturbet" means the "Mouth of a Ford" because long ago there was a ford where Kilconny briidge is now. It is also said that it got its name from a quarrel which was between two families of O'Reillys who lived one on each side of the river. The land is very hilly and some parts of it are fairly fertile.
