- Once upon a time there lived a family named Townsleys in the parish of Kill near the village of Tullyvin. One of the family was called Squire Moore and he died when he was about the age of forty years. At the time of his death there was an old gamekeeper named James Murphy on the demense.On the night before New Year's day the old gamekeeper was going home about twelve o'clock when he thought he heard a carriage coming out from the back-yard. He turned and went back to find out what the noise was about.When he was near the house he heard it and he heard it again and this time he saw a coach drawn by two lonely black horses coming round to the front door. He was in great wonder as to who should be going out at this time of the night. The coach, however, passed the front door and went on down to(continues on next page)
