Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The root grows down far in the earth and it is impossible to pull. Where it grows strong if the root was dug up with a spade it is in thickness equal to the handle of a pen. When perfectly washed it is as white as cornflour, palatable to the taste and supposed to be a wholesome food.
The rose-noble is another harmful plant when growing amongst the crops. It has a long white root pretty thick and growing in joint and very brittle. When touched it breaks easily and any of (them) the broken pieces are ready to grow at a moments notice. It too had medicinal qualities and is used with other plants as a cold cure or a cure for bronchitis and last but not least is the couch grass. This grows in dry land and impoverishes the soil. Like ignorance (it) is hard banished.
