Plantain leaf is another plant almost used for the same purpose and it was also supposed to stop blood. Water cress is a plant that grows at Springs. In olden times they used it for heart trouble and the old folk believed that it would grow a new heart where decayed.
Valerian, another plant grows beside rivers and in meadows with a tall stem and white blossom with a beautiful aroma. The blossom partly resembles the elder tree. A decoction made from this plant is said to cure consumption.
Dandelion is a plant and a very useful medicine may be decocted from it and is used by invalids and people run down for a tonic.
The tormential root (called by the old people tormenting root) and is sometimes called septfoil. It is a small miserable looking plant growing on an old ditch or barren soil and is a most powerful remedy for diarrhoea in the human being and very seldom fails curing.
