    side or bottom of the churn. Butter is made three times a week in Summer, and twice a week in Winter. My mother does the churning. Strangers who come in help with the work. The churning is finished in an hour in Winter. It is done by hand.
    The dash goes up and down. People know when the churning is finished when there is no butter on the dash. There is no old sayings connected with the churn or churning.
