- Very early in the nineteenth century, fishermen who were fishing along the big island of Lough Ramor noticed peculiar shapes on the bottom of the lake. They investigated the matter and poked up a hundred valuable vessels.
Tradition relates that a band of outlaws known as the Sons of Death went in hiding on the island during the invasion of the Danes. They were wild Irish youths who imitating the Danes quickly learned to rob and plunder.
