  1. The local fairs are held in Virginia, Bailieboro, Ballyjamesduff, Oldcastle, Mullagh, Kilnaleck and Cavan.
    The fairs are not always held on the street. Buyers often transact business in the country. they go to the farmers houses to buy cows and sheep.
    There were no fairs held long ago which have been discontinued.
    There is toll paid on sheep to the Urban(e) Council in Cavan about sixpence a head.
    When an animal is sold there is luck money given and this is called a luck penny. if a man goes
