- Many old games, now almost forgotten, were played around the fireside by people of this locality several years ago. A very amusing and interesting game played was "Simey and Pushy".
The conductor of the game stands up, raises his head and says "Simey told me to Wig-Wag, Wig-Wag" and he moves his forefinger backwards and forwards. Each member of the party moves his finger in the same manner. But if he says "Pushy told me to Wig-Wag" no one is supposed to move. If anyone breaks the rules he is slapped with a strap.
Another nice game which aroused great enjoyment was a game called "Musical Instruments". The conductor of the game gave names, such as pianist or organist to each member of the party. He then pretended to play a violin but suddenly he pretended to play some other instrument which one of the party was playing. That person immediately started to play the violin but if he did not do so he was slapped with a strap.- Faisnéiseoir
