- There is a hill near Crosskeys which is pronounced Sliabat where Ir the pagan herb man used to live long ago. He sued to go around in his chariot telling the people about the cures and lecturing on herbs.
He used to boil the roots of dockings for jandice. The slimy substance between the bark and the tree of the elm was used as a cure for cancer.
Dandelion was pounded and milk or buttermilk was poured on it and it was drunk every morning and it was a good cure for consumption.
Ir was afterwards killed by an arrow.
- To cure a wound on a horse's breast caused by the collar irritating the breast and to toughen the skin oakbark was boiled and the water applied to the horse's breast.
