They usually come in bands of ten or twelve and sometimes even more than twelve at a time. People in Cavan may expect them on a fair day especially.
I will never forget a fight there was about two years ago between a crowd of gypsies. They were fighting with bottles, ash plants and even axes. One woman was hit with the blunt edge of an axe and nearly killed. They even flung one of their children at one another.
When the guards were bringing them to jail the gypsies were all cut and bleeding.
