    On Palm Sunday when the Blessed Palm is brought home from the Church it is divided and a small piece put over each door - over the door of each room in the dwelling - house, and over the door of each of the out - houses. This was to protect people and animals during the year.
    Holly is used at Xmas for decorating the houses. It is usual to put it up on Xmas Eve and leave it until after the 6th January. It is then thrown out - it is said to be very unlucky to burn the holly which has been used for decoration.
