On the mountain side along the same road is Maguire's Chair and the Black Rocks. The Black Rocks is a large sandstone quarry and Maguire's Chair is a huge sandstone boulder shaped somewhat like a chair and standing on the edge of a steep-cliff. It is said that Maguire rested here on his way to Ballymagovern to fight a battle with the Clan McGovern. Others say Maguire was made chief of the Clan at this spot. Along the road is another famous spot called Legnaderk - Lug-na-Dearg where it is said there was a fierce battle between the native Irish and some of the English Planters who endeavoured to force their way from central plain across the mountains and on into Ulster.
At the "Black Rocks" is a Cross Road - a road leads to Swanlinbar called the Rock Road and also Commas Road. Another Road leads to Corlough and Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.
