He became angry at this, and made a second attempt, sinking the drain much deeper than before, but in vain the water gushed forth in its original place. Several workmen refused to work at it. After a time he procured a man to drain it for the third and last time. The water ceased to rise any more. Tradition says that the workman lived only a short time. The owner, named Dowling found his stock dead morning after morning until finally there was none
