  1. Lore of Certain Days
People do not like to start shearing their sheep on a Monday. Some do not like to put a hen to set on a Sunday. Another saying is,
"Saturday's flit makes a short sit"
It is also supposed to be unlucky to start a building a house on a Saturday Thursday or Friday is a lucky day to start ploughing. A person or an animal born on Whit Sunday is not supposed to be good, and people do not like to bathe on that day either.
Some people do not sweep out the dust or ashes or throw out any water on New Year's Day.
If it rains on St Swithin's Day it will rain for the following 40 days.
