- There are many classes of weeds. Most of them are useful for medicinal purposes. Some weeds are very harmful to the land, such as running-skutch, rag-weed, docks and hemlock.
They all spread rapidly and impoverish the soil. Thistles grow on good ground; rushes and moss grow on poor ground.
Nettles are used for purifying the blood. The nettles are boiled and then eaten.
Rag-weed is useful for swollen joints. The rag-weed is heated before it is used.
