- We have churn at home. It is round and it is about a foot and a half high. The top part where the cream is put in is square. The churn is made of oak and it is kept together with steel hoops.There are beaters in the churn for making the butter and they are turned with a handle on the outside. When the churn is made the butter is taken off and it is washed in clean water to take the milk out of it. Then it is cut into pound pieces.
