“Some years ago a man by the name of Jones had a tan-yard in New Ross (Co Wexford Barony of Bantry).”
He used to tan a great amount of leather, and used a big amount of dog-dung in the tanning.
There was a dog kennel in Seullabogue, and the fose-hounds used to stop there two nights a week.
There was a man by the name of Mick Jordan who lived din the rock lane at Grallough (Raheen Co Wexfords, Barony of Bantry)
He had two barrels of dog-dung going to the tan-yard one morning.
He met two policemen on the road who stopped him and asked him what was in the barrels.
He told them he would not tell what was in the barrels but for God's sake not to meddle with them.
One of the policemen jumped up on the car and said 'I will soon know" he [?] the led and rammed his arm down in the barrel to his elbow but he took it up all blastered with dog dung.
They let Jordan go hos way and didn't(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
