Mt. Seaton, Camolin
Co. Wexford. - Buying and Selling.
Shops were not common in olden days.
Buying and selling were carried on after Mass at the cross roads. Sweets, biscuits, cigarettes, tea and sugar were sold.
Some of the markets which were held in towns long ago are still held there.
Some people used to go round looking for feathers, ticks and rags. Some of them go round still. Two of these men are O'Hara and O'Connor.
Some of the coins which were used long ago are gone out of use such as the fourpennypiece and the buttermilk penny. The sixpence was called a "tanner" and the shilling was called a "bob".Saidee Greene.
