    Basket making is not very common in this district. Baskets are made by Mr. Hillard of Carney, they cut sallie sticks and hazle, and made baskets with them. It was a very common craft in olden times.
    The olden people also made rush candles. They pulled rushes and dipped them in resin and lighted like candles. The blacksmiths made shovels, nails, and pot cranes, and ploughs. They did much more work in those days than they do now.
    Many Ropes were made in old days. It is not so common now. The people twisted binder twine and made ropes and sold them in the town. Tatching and barrel making were very common. The people tatched their own houses.
