  1. One day a man named John Reilly was coming from Wexford. He was a United Irishman. He was coming by the St. John of God Convent when he met an English Officer.
He was riding a grey horse and John Reilly was walking. The English officer came over to him and made a "swipe" at him with his sword, but Reilly jumped out of the way of the sword and stuck his spear ih through the officer's heart and threw him off the horse. The Reilly mounted the horse and rode home to Kilgarvan.
He sold the horse to a farmer. Every time the horse used to hear a horn blown he used to run off to where the horn was blown.
One day as Reilly was coming through a farmer's yard there was another man with him named James Wickham. There was an army of English soldiers after them. Reilly ran into a pig-sty and laid down among the pigs. The other fellow was caught and Reilly escaped.
