A local belief as regards the halo is "The farther the circle the nearer the rain, and the nearer the circle the farther the rain" A rainbow in the west indicates that bad weather is coming to us. A rainbow is the east is a sign that the rain is going away from us. When swallows fly high fine weather may be expected; but when they fly low and close to the ground rain is approaching.
