  1. There is a Fort in Kilcowrsey called Nickson's Fort. It is surrounded by hazel and ash trees. Long ago there lived people beside this Fort named Walsh.
One summer's day the woman of the house left a child in the garden. She went into the house to do a job. When she went out to the garden again the child was crying. She brought her into the house.
The child cried for three days and after the third day she got a laburnum rod and took the bark off it. She hit the child three cracks of it. A little woman with a red cap shouted at her not to kill her and that they would give her back her own child. They went to bed that night and the next morning she had her own child.
The child was taken away by the fairies.
