Old Craft
Near the village of Rathconrath there lives a man named Ned Doolan. He follows the trage of carpenter now but his father and his grandfather and as far back as he can remember were coopers. They made churns and butter making vessels, jogglers, dashes and coolers. They also made firkins . This locality was noted for its splendid butter and as there was no cooper in the place but the Doolans they were kept very busy. The present owner of the place mends churns and has the tools which his ancestors used; but as people now- a- day buy their tubs and churns in the shops he does not follow the trade- Bailitheoir
