My mother told me that about fifty years ago (married) people generally got married in the evening. They used not have Mass but they sometimes got married on Sunday after Mass.
They had the wedding feast in the bride's house and at the bringing home from the chapel the bride and bridegroom came in the front in a jaunting car and the bride's maid and best man with them (all) and all the guests came behind in other cars. In all the houses they passed on the way there were lights in the windows.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
