In the end of June and the beginning of July they are sprayed.
A mixture of water, bluestone, and lime is put into a barrel and sprayed over the crop to preserve them from the blight.
The potatoes are ready for eating in July and August but as they are still wet at this time, only sufficent for one days dinner are dug at a time.
In September and October when the other farm work is finished and the potatoes have become dry, the whole crop is dug out and saved in pits.
The pits are made by digging a long hole in the ground.
