  1. In olden days people used to eat potatoes and buttermilk. They used to have it three times a day. Potatoes were the principal food people had. People made porridge also in the olden times. They used to steep the meal and then boil it and cook it. They would eat it with buttermilk.
    Before cups were made they used to eat out of noggins. They were made like barrels and they were made of wood. They had spoons for eating with. They were made from wood. They are to be seen in some houses still.
    They used to have bread made from oaten meal. It is about a hundred years since tea first came to this district When people got tea first they used to cook it and eat it like porridge
