   The children brought a penny every day to pay for the instruction they received. The pupils used readers suitable for First, Second and Third classes. Writing was done with a pencil on a slate, and the pupils stood in a class around the master. The master remained in the district until he died.
   Irish was not spoken or taught.

   There was a school in Moylroe, Delvin. In the locality it was called a "night" school. Michael White was the name of the master. He was not a stranger. He owned the house, and the pupils supplied the fire and light. The subjects taught were Grammar,
