put in. A good deal of work has yet to be done; it is estimated that the work will take five years to complete by which time some thousands of acres will have been planted, and in time to come the Cratloe Woods, it is to be hoped, will have recovered some of their old-time glory.
When most of the tenants under the land-lords Blood, Lord George quin, and others purchased their holdings, some of those who had been employed as wood-rangers and care-takers were alloted portions of the Wood, e.g. Michael Moloney got possession of that part which was in the Brick-hill property; The Quain Family at Cratloe Moyle got another; Solomon O Neill of Cratloe another, while a large portion remained as the special property of Major Edgar Stafford O'Brien of Cratloe Woods, who by the way, is the only Protestant in the whole parish. Now they all become State property.
