    He looked at it and said he would bring it to Mullingar to a man who could test it. It was sent away and he received £76 for it. He stopped working and supplied himself, wife and children with everything of the best. In a short time he had all the money spent and returned to work as poor as ever. The same thing occured again in the same place but was not so valuable. He received £30 for the next and again lived beyond his means. He was known to take a covered car to bring himself and his wife home from the market with plenty of goodies. He ended up by returning to the waterworks as poor as ever
    The third time he got a pipe which ended all his luck. He sold it for 7/6 and remained poor until he died. No one knows who put the treasure there
