- Round the Green Gravel the Grass grows green. The children all stand in a ring and sing-
"Round the green gravel the grass grows green
Such a fine lady was fit to be seen,
Wash them in milk, dress them in silk
I will write down their names with a gold pen and ink
Dear lady, dear lady, your true love is dead
I will write you a letter to turn round your head"Then the leader of the game who stands in the centre of the ring names any girl she wishes.
Then she turns facing outwards and so the game goes on singing and turning until all in the ring have turned outwards.
When all have turned the verse is sung once, all moving round and the game is ended.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
